Swim Lessons and Summer Pool Schedule
Swim lessons for children ages 6 months-17 years old are now viewable online. Lessons will be offered for three, two-week sessions, June 20-July 28. The cost is $15 per session. Separate classes will be available for parents and children. Registration will open on June 7, at 8 a.m. on EZEEreg.com.
Session 1: June 20-30 Session 2: July 5-14 Session 3: July 18-28
The City also offers aquatic fitness classes at multiple locations throughout the summer. A detailed schedule of locations and times can be found on EZEEreg.com.

Track and Field and Road Races in June and July
We are hosting the annual Summer Track and Field and Road Races every Tuesday and Thursday in June and July.
Track and Field Events will take place at Drachman Stadium, 501 S. Plumer Ave., every Tuesday, June 7-July 19, beginning at 7 p.m.
Road Races will take place at various locations each week Thursdays, Jun 9-July 21, beginning at 6 p.m.
The cost will be $3/youth (17 years and younger) and $4/adults (18 years and older). More information can be found on the Sports Unit webpage.

Summer Poolooza
This summer we will host Summer Poolooza, free pool parties across the city. Events will include Ready, Set, Rec! vans with games and activities, food, music, inflatables, pool fun, and more. Join us for some fun in the sun. Pool parties will be from 5-7 p.m., unless otherwise noted.

Lifeguard Job Opportunity
We are looking to hire approximately 200 more lifeguards to open additional pools this summer. Positions include lifeguard and WSI/senior lifeguard and require American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification or equivalent. In Arizona, it’s the law that your dog needs to be on a leash when out in public unless you are in an off-leash dog park. No matter where you take your dog, or how well trained they are, your dog is safer when on a leash, and you are too.

On Nov. 6, 2018, City of Tucson voters approved Proposition 407, a $225 million bond package for capital improvements via General Obligation bonds. The bond funds are dedicated to improving City park amenities (playgrounds, sports fields, pools, splash pads, and recreation centers) as well as connections (pedestrian pathways, bicycle pathways, and pedestrian and bicycle safety). Construction Underway at CSM Martin R. “Gunny” Barreras Memorial Park
This park is budgeted for $4,316,130 in 2018 voter-approved bond dollars. In addition, the City has secured a $500,000 Arizona State Parks American Rescue Plan Act Grant for the renovation and development of this park and $150,000 of American Rescue Plan federal funding for fitness equipment.
Some of the projects underway include a new walking path, new playground with shade, new ramada, new LED lighting, new outdoor fitness equipment court, splash pad, and a new restroom.

Improvement Projects Near Complete at Cherry Avenue Park
A new playground, dog park (with two areas), decomposed granite walking path, added trees, irrigation upgrades, and repainting the shade structure and perimeter fence has been completed at Cherry Avenue Park.
The final project remaining at this park is a shade structure over the basketball court.
