PUBLIC HOUSING OFFICES REOPEN THIS WEEK - Starting tomorrow, April 27, the City of Tucson's Housing and Community Development's (HCD) public housing offices will be open for walk-in assistance on Tuesdays, 8 a.m.-noon, and Thursdays, noon-4 p.m., and the offices will begin performing routine work orders. Meetings also can be scheduled by appointment. Rent will not be collected in the public housing offices, so continue to mail or drop off your rent at the HCD Main Office, 310 N. Commerce Park Loop. If you plan to visit in person, be advised that you will be required to wear a face mask, maintain 6-feet of social distancing, and answer questions to screen for COVID-19 or the flu. Please stay home if you are not feeling well or are experiencing any flu symptoms, such as headache, shortness of breath, runny nose, sore throat, cough, or fever. VIRTUAL YOUTH CHAT THIS WEEK - Join leaders and members from the Goodwill REC Youth Center, United Youth Leadership Council, NAACP Tucson Youth Council, AmeriCorps, and the Tucson Police Department for an informal youth chat this Wednesday, April 28, from 4-6 p.m. Participants will come together to join in solidarity to listen, exchange ideas, educate, increase understanding, and lift up the voices of our youth. READY, SET, REC! VISITING YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD - Tucson Parks and Recreation's Ready, Set, Rec! program is bringing a van to a park near you. Each of the six vans has standard play equipment, such as giant yard games, board games, cards, walking sticks, and hula hoops. Other modules that you could see at the program include, but are not limited to, arts and crafts, STEM activities, sports, container gardening, fishing, Lotería, and more. COVID-19 VACCINE SCHEDULING AND MONDAY NUMBERS UPDATE - COVID-19 vaccines are available to anyone 16 years old and up at Pfizer sites in Tucson and Pima County. Sites with the Moderna vaccine are open to those at least 18 years old. While many locations require pre-registration (links below), you can register on-site at the Tucson Convention Center for the Moderna vaccine and can often get a shot the same day. So far, more than 2.86 million people in Arizona, or 39.9% of the population, have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while more than 2.16 million people are fully vaccinated with both doses. As of today, April 26, Arizona now has 859,487 positive coronavirus cases, with 750 new cases reported today (up from 661 yesterday). The total number of cases includes people who have recovered. Of that number, 114,892 cases are in Pima County (up 62 from yesterday). There have been 17,268 COVID-19 deaths in Arizona (0 reported today), and 2,391 of those occurred in Pima County (0 reported today).
