DOWNTOWN LINKS PHASE III
STONE AVENUE AND TOOLE AVENUE/FRANKLIN STREET INTERSECTION CLOSURE
On Monday, May 3, 2021, beginning at about 6 a.m., the intersection of Stone Avenue and Toole Avenue/Franklin Street is scheduled to completely close to motorists to allow work crews to install a large underground storm drain system in and around the intersection. This work is associated with the Downtown Links Phase III improvement project from Broadway to Church Avenue. The intersection closure is occurring for the safety of the traveling public and work crews. The closure is scheduled to be in place until the end of July 2021. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances. See the map below for the limits of the closure.
This intersection closure will follow the reopening of Sixth Street from Stone Avenue to Sixth Avenue, which is scheduled to take place by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021.
Pedestrian and bicycle access will be maintained through the Stone Avenue underpass on one side or the other. Cyclists must walk their bike in the underpass.
Motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians should anticipate intermittent lane restrictions throughout the limits of the project in addition to the scheduled intersection work.
The 30-month construction project, which began in August 2020, is scheduled for completion in early 2023. For more information on the project, visit downtownlinks.info.
