On March 31, 2021, City of Tucson Neighborhood Resources and Arizona Partnership for Healthy Community held a virtual workshop to address a question regularly posed by Neighborhood Association leaders -- “How can we get more people involved in our neighborhood efforts?”

PROGRAM

Serena Unrein, Arizona Partnership for Healthy Communities, moderated a conversation between the following two speakers and workshop attendees about ways to effectively and equitably reach people who aren’t currently involved in neighborhood meetings, activities, and projects.

Speakers

Evren Sönmez, Director of Strategic Policy & Practice, Living Streets Alliance. Evren has worked on projects with many Tucson neighborhoods over the years.

Lyssa Hall, Live Well Arizona Incubator Coach. Lyssa previously worked in the City of Phoenix Neighborhood Services Department as a Planner and is working with the Menlo Park Neighborhood Association on strategies for involvement in the preparation of Menlo Park’s Neighborhood Plan.

LEARNING & SHARING

If there were engagement ideas discussed in this workshop about which you would like to learn more or there are effective techniques your Neighborhood Association uses that you think could benefit other Neighborhood Associations, we would be delighted if you would share them with Rebecca Ruopp, Neighborhood Engagement Specialist, at Rebecca.Ruopp@tucsonaz.gov, for possible use in a future Neighborhood Nugget or Neighborhood Workshop.
