COVID-19 VACCINES AVAILABLE TODAY WITH NO APPOINTMENT - A COVID-19 vaccine site is open at El Pueblo Center, 101 W. Irvington Road, Bldg. 9, for those 18 and up. Just walk up and get a Moderna vaccine today, while supplies last. The site is open 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
CHANGES AHEAD FOR COVID-19 VACCINATION SITE AT KINO - The COVID-19 drive-thru vaccination site managed by Banner-University Medicine at Kino Stadium will deliver its last doses of the COVID-19 vaccine on May 14 before shutting down permanently due to hot weather. Hours at the Kino Stadium site will shift on April 17 to 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, in order to keep the public, staff, and volunteers out of the heat. Patients will be notified by Banner directly if their appointment times need to be adjusted. The site will be limited to second doses after April 17. Preparing for this shift, the County this week opened an indoor facility at the Kino Event Center, 2805 E. Ajo Way, for first- and second-dose appointments. NATIONAL MAYORS' CHALLENGE FOR WATER CONSERVATION - Throughout the rest of April, residents in cities across the nation are pledging to save water and other natural resources in a friendly competition to win eco-friendly prizes. Winning cities are those with the highest percentage of residents participating in the challenge. Prizes include a grand prize of $3,000 in utility payments, “Green Your Home” cleaning kits, water-saving fixtures, and more. In addition, a community charity can win a Toyota Highlander Hybrid. VIRTUAL YOUTH CHAT LATER THIS MONTH - Join leaders and members from the Goodwill REC Youth Center, United Youth Leadership Council, NAACP Tucson Youth Council, AmeriCorps, and the Tucson Police Department for an informal youth chat on April 28, from 4-6 p.m. Participants will come together to join in solidarity to listen, exchange ideas, educate, increase understanding, and lift up the voices of our youth. COVID-19 WEDNESDAY UPDATE AND VACCINE SCHEDULING - As of today, April 14, Arizona now has 851,265 positive coronavirus cases, with 419 new cases reported today (down from 610 yesterday). The total number of cases includes people who have recovered. Of that number, 113,903 cases are in Pima County (up 81 from yesterday). There have been 17,109 COVID-19 deaths in Arizona (4 reported today), and 2,372 of those occurred in Pima County (-1 reported today after a data revision). Meanwhile, if you want a COVID-19 vaccine at a Pima County site, you can register online at the link below. Help is also available in English and Spanish by calling (520) 222-0119 for those who are unable to make an online appointment. To register at the state-run University of Arizona site, follow the state/UA link below, or call (844) 542-8201. So far, more than 2.61 million people in Arizona, or 36.3% of the population, have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while more than 1.74 million people are fully vaccinated with both doses.
