MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEETINGS TOMORROW - Tucson's Mayor and Council will meet tomorrow, Feb. 23, at 12:30 p.m., in Study Session, and the body will meet again at 5:30 p.m. for its Regular Meeting. Due to COVID-19, the meetings will again be held remotely and online. COVID-19 MONDAY UPDATE AND VACCINE SCHEDULING - As of today, Feb. 22, Arizona now has 809,474 positive coronavirus cases, with 1,507 new cases reported today (down from 1,804 yesterday). The total number of cases includes people who have recovered. Of that number, 108,479 cases are in Pima County (up 138 from yesterday). There have been 15,502 COVID-19 deaths in Arizona (-3 reported today after a date revision), and 2,149 of those occurred in Pima County (0 reported today). Meanwhile, if you're eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine at a Pima County site (65-years-old and up, prioritized essential workers, public safety, and teachers/educators/child care workers), you can register online at the link below. Help is also available in English and Spanish by calling (520) 222-0119 for those who are unable to make an online appointment. SIX MOBILE RECREATION VEHICLES PREPARED FOR 'READY, SET, REC!' - Tucson Parks and Recreation officially launches Ready, Set, Rec!, a new mobile recreation program, on Thursday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m., at Rudy Garcia Park, 5001 S. Nogales Highway. At the event, members of Tucson's Mayor and City Council will cut the ribbon and release the vans into the community. Masks and physical distancing will be required. THRIVE IN THE 05 VIRTUAL BUSINESS FORUM - The City of Tucson’s Office of Economic Initiatives and Pima Community College Workforce Development will be hosting Thrive in the 05’s Virtual Business Forum next Monday, March 1, from 4-5 p.m. The virtual event will highlight three local Thrive in the 05 businesses as they share their stories of resilience and the creative pivots they turned to during the COVID-19 pandemic to continue their business operations despite the challenges of 2020. Featured speakers at the virtual forum will be Steve Baquet of ABC Insurance and A Baquet Company, Kelly McLear of Monterey Court, and Chef Juan Almanza of El Taco Rustico.
