An Initiative to Broaden Outreach to Neighbors and More

PDSD Neighborhood Resources has received inquiries about how to connect with neighbors who do not have Internet access or may not have or be comfortable using technology.  This is an issue that has been highlighted during the pandemic as there has been increased reliance on technology for communication.  The Menlo Park Neighborhood Association has launched an initiative that provides one approach to addressing this issue.  It’s called the Vecinos Initiative, and Menlo Park Neighborhood Association President, Zach Yentzer, talked about the effort on a segment of the Thrive in the 05 Resource Café.  The Café is an online broadcast sponsored by the Thrive in the 05 project, a collaboration of innovations in Community-Based Crime Reduction, Choice Neighborhoods, and Workforce and Economic Development in the 85705 zip code.

The segment not only introduces the Vecinos Initiative, but in response to questions from interviewer, Ward 3 Council Aide Ernesto Portillo, Zach shares thoughts on the relevance of Neighborhood Associations, intergenerational involvement, neighborhood resources, and more.

We recommend listening to this Resource Café segment, and hope you will take away some ideas to explore with your neighborhood.
