City of Tucson People, Community, and Homes Investment Plan (P-CHIP) Draft Now Available for Public Comment
The City of Tucson Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) is seeking feedback on the draft People, Communities, and Homes Investment Plan (P-CHIP), which will serve as a foundation for HCD’s programs and funding allocations for the next five years.
The plan relies on previous plans, priorities, and data resources, including Plan Tucson, the 2020 priorities identified by Tucson’s Mayor and City Council, the City of Tucson – Pima County 2020-2024 Housing and Urban Development Consolidated Plan, and other community plans and reports. In addition, HCD sought feedback from the public through an interactive website, public stakeholder meetings, outreach to experts and agencies, and a public survey and budget tool.
Based on these previous plans, background data, and public feedback, the following issues emerged as top priorities:
- Addressing and preventing homelessness
- Access to health care
- Equitable access to opportunities for training, education, and housing
- Transportation and mobility for all forms of travel
- Access to quality affordable housing
The draft plan and executive summary can be viewed online at p-chip.tucsonaz.gov/pages/plan. In addition to submitting online comments, there will be two virtual public input meetings via Zoom to discuss the draft plan and to give input and feedback. The public input meetings will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 6, from 6-7 p.m., and Thursday, Jan. 7, from 11 a.m.-noon. If you are interested in attending, please register online at: p-chip.tucsonaz.gov/#meetings.
