SEEKING NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION PROJECTS TO PHOTOGRAPH

PDSD Neighborhood Resources has been assisted by Public Allies intern, Terrence Telford, since January. Terrence was all ready to jump in and work hand in hand with Neighborhood Associations and then COVID struck and we found ourselves working remotely. So, after lamenting over the loss of in-person contact, we turned our sights to activities that could be safely undertaken in these challenging times. One of those activities has been photographing projects undertaken by Neighborhood Associations over the years, including murals, neighborhood signs, public art, free little libraries, bulletin boards, traffic circles, pocket parks, park enhancements, and more. We are slowly gathering a catalogue of projects that demonstrate how much creativity and ingenuity there is in Tucson’s neighborhoods and how much neighborhoods can be inspired by and learn from each other.

OUR ASK by Thursday, November 19th:  Please send us names and locations of projects undertaken by your Neighborhood Association over the years. Email suggestions to: neighborhood@tucsonaz.gov.

Terrence is really looking forward to taking as many additional photographs as he can before he graduates from Public Allies in December. We look forward to sharing these photographs, as well as information about how the projects came to be, at the beginning of the new year.
