COVID-19 TUESDAY UPDATE - As of today, Oct. 13, Arizona now has 226,734 positive coronavirus cases, with 683 new cases reported today (up from 475 yesterday). The total number of cases includes people who have recovered. Of that number, 26,516 cases are in Pima County (up 51 from yesterday). There have been 5,767 COVID-19 deaths in Arizona (8 reported today), and 633 of those occurred in Pima County (0 reported today). Meanwhile, the City of Tucson maintains an up-to-date COVID-19 website (link below) that includes information for businesses, residents, and more. The site is updated as information evolves. MORTGAGE GRANT ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE - Are you behind in your mortgage or in danger of losing your home due to the COVID-19 pandemic? The City of Tucson is offering a program to assist homeowners within city limits behind on their mortgages as a result of the pandemic. Homeowners must have a pre-foreclosure notice or a foreclosure scheduled. The program will be administered by the Community Investment Corporation, (CIC) through Family Housing Resources (FHR), and will provide $3,000-$5,000 per homeowner to assist in mortgage payments. Payments will be verified and paid directly to the mortgage loan servicer and will include fees incurred due to nonpayment of mortgages. TRAFFIC ALERT: EUCLID AVENUE AT BROADWAY BOULEVARD TRAFFIC SHIFT - Starting tomorrow, Oct. 14, at 6 a.m., northbound and southbound traffic on Euclid Avenue, just north and south of Broadway Boulevard, will be shifted to the west side of the roadway with one lane in each direction. This shift will be in place to allow crews to remove asphalt on the existing roadway, prep the subgrade for base paving on the northeast section of the Broadway and Euclid intersection, and construct new curbs and ADA ramps. Left turns will not be permitted for motorists traveling southbound on Euclid to eastbound Broadway. This shift will be in place until the end of November. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances. The work is part of the Broadway Improvement Project from Euclid Avenue to Country Club Road. JOB OPPORTUNITY: PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS SUPERVISOR - The Public Safety Communications Department is seeking dedicated leaders for the 911 Communications Center. Successful candidates will have strong problem-solving skills and experience in investigating and resolving citizen complaints in a public safety communications setting. This position supervises Police and Fire/EMS communications personnel involved in answering emergency and non-emergency 9-1-1 calls and dispatching Police and Fire/EMS units in response to requests for emergency assistance.
