JOIN US FOR THE KICK-OFF OF OUR VIRTUAL NEIGHBORHOOD WORKSHOPS

In July we sent a Neighborhood Nugget that contained a survey designed to determine preferred times and topics for neighborhood workshops. Respondents indicated that the most popular time was Wednesdays, Noon - 1 pm, and the first general topic of choice was "Non-Governmental Resources Available to Neighborhood Associations." So that's where we are starting. To see the survey questions and responses click here.

Topic: LIVE WELL ARIZONA INCUBATOR: Purpose, Examples, How to Apply

When: Wednesday, September 23, Noon - 1:00 pm

Where: Online

To Register: Fill out the online registration form and receive your invitation for the virtual workshop that will be held via Microsoft Teams (which is the City's meeting platform and pretty easy to use).

Workshop Content: Earlier this summer we sent a Neighborhood Nugget about the opportunity to apply for the Live Well Arizona Incubator, designed to support and accelerate the work of teams seeking to address community issues with their very own coach to guide them. This no cost program is a collaboration of the Arizona Partnership for Healthy Communities and Vitalyst Health Foundation.

Then we thought that many of you would probably like to hear firsthand from Jane Pearson, a member of the Incubator management team, and from Zach Yentzer, president of Tucson's Menlo Park Neighborhood Association, which participated in the program in 2019. So, together we planned this workshop, which will include:

  • A brief introduction about the Incubator's sponsors, background, goals, and purpose.
  • Several examples of Incubator teams' work and outcomes
  • A mini-case study of the Menlo Park Neighborhood Association's Incubator program, the issue tackled, and what was gained and what was learned.
  • Steps in completing the application for this year's program (due October 16, 2020)

Not Sure?  Even if pursuing this program sounds like one thing too many in these unusual times, we encourage you to join the one-hour workshop to hear about issues addressed and methods used, which may give you some ideas applicable to your neighborhood.

Questions:  Please contact Rebecca Ruopp, Neighborhood Engagement Specialist, at Rebecca.Ruopp@tucsonaz.gov.

Look forward to "seeing" you at the workshop.
