PRIMARY ELECTION DAY TOMORROW - Tomorrow, Aug. 4, is primary election day in Pima County, but there are no City of Tucson offices being contested. Pima County is working to ensure voters and poll workers are protected as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. Although the Pima County Recorder's Office says nearly half of the 177,000 early ballots mailed to voters have been returned, many people will show up at the polls tomorrow to vote or simply drop-off their early ballots, since it's too late to mail them back and have them counted. The 2,000 poll workers serving in Pima County will be supplied with masks, plastic face shields, gloves, disinfectant spray, and hand sanitizer. Masks and proper social distancing will be required for anyone who wishes to cast a ballot. If a voter does not have a mask, they will be provided one at their polling location. The polls will be open from 6 a.m.-7 p.m. From the Arizona Daily Star Pima County Recorder's Office

STUDY CONTINUES TO DETERMINE IF TUMAMOC HILL WILL REMAIN OPEN - The University of Arizona on July 24 said it was conducting a two-week study to see if visitors to the popular walking trail are adhering to the mandatory mask-wearing rule. If not, university officials say they will again close the mountain to visitors. The site was closed March 18 due to the coronavirus pandemic. It reopened May 25 and within a week saw nearly 1,000 people each day, according to the university. School officials also said that only 30-40% of visitors were following mask guidelines. The two-week evaluation period is due to end this Friday. From the Arizona Daily Star
