CRIME PREVENTION FUNDING MOVES FORWARD IN WARD 3 - The federal Department of Justice recently approved a $1 million crime prevention plan for the Thrive in the 05 effort in Ward 3. Thrive in the 05 is a collaborative effort between the City of Tucson, Pima Community College, and ASU School of Social Work to improve the lives of residents in key neighborhoods along and nearby the North Oracle Road corridor. The Ward 3 office has been a major partner in the initiative since Thrive in the 05's inception nearly two years ago. The initiative has two goals. One of those goals is the Community-Based Crime Reduction (CBCR) plan and the second is the Choice Neighborhoods program, a plan that is under development to focus on enhancing the neighborhoods through investments. Both cover most of the same area, which is roughly from Speedway Boulevard north to Miracle Mile and from Stone Avenue west to the railroad tracks. Thrive in the 05 Crime Reduction
