Wastewater Treatment, a Disruptive Technology? 

A disruptive technology is one that displaces an established technology and shakes up an industry. Renewable energy is Wastewater’s disruptive technology. While the phrase “disruptive technology” may be new, the concept is not. Throughout time, there have been transformational developments that have aided the evolution of civilizations - think of the invention of gunpowder, steam engines, electric generators, and cell phones. Each of those inventions changed the world at that moment in time.

RWRAC Summary

The Regional Wastewater Reclamation Advisory Committee held its last meeting of the year on December 16. In his Director’s Report, Jackson Jenkins said that there is a fair amount of federal money that will be made available for infrastructure projects. RWRD is taking a proactive approach to analyzing available grants to determine which projects might qualify for a share of that funding.

Holiday Festivities

Some RWRD divisions held holiday gatherings throughout the month of December. Downtown staff brought in the holiday season on December 16th last year.  

Covid-19 is still circulating all over the world, and the very contagious Omicron variant is spreading widely, so social distancing and masking were still the orders of the day.
