 Community Newsletter February 2025
Happy February, Neighbors!
I hope you're enjoying this beautiful change in weather! This month's newsletter highlights important updates from our district and across the city.
Beginning Monday, February 3, the Main Library will undergo solar panel installation. During the first phase of construction, parking will only be accessible from Centennial Street. Learn more about this project and its benefits for Downtown Mesa at mesanow.org.
The opioid epidemic has deeply impacted families across Arizona. In response, the Attorney General pursued litigation to hold pharmaceutical companies accountable. As a result, Arizona will receive more than $1.14 billion to support recovery, prevention, and treatment efforts.
Here in Mesa, we are committed to ensuring these funds create real change. As part of the One Arizona Agreement, the City has allocated $1 million to support local nonprofits working to prevent and reduce opioid use.
Starting February 18, eligible organizations can apply for grants in four key areas: prevention and education, early intervention and treatment, harm reduction and rescue, and recovery and resiliency. The application period will be open through March 11. For details and information about the grant kickoff, visit mesaaz.gov.
Together, we can strengthen our community and support those affected by this crisis.
If you ever have any questions, want to share about issues that are important to you, or if I can be of assistance, please reach out to me at district4@mesaaz.gov or 480-644-3004. My door is always open!

Did you know?
Natural gas pipelines are a safe and reliable way to transport energy to homes and businesses in our communities. Since most natural gas pipelines are buried underground, you may not know that you live or work close to one. Yellow pipeline markers are used to help identify their presence. These markers display the name of the pipeline operator, the material being transported, and emergency contact information. Knowing the location of buried facilities is the simplest and easiest way to keep everyone safe and protect the vital utilities we rely on.
