September 2024
Hello!
Welcome to this month's community newsletter! As the seasons change, so do the opportunities for us to come together, support one another, and make our neighborhood a better place to live. This month, we have exciting updates, upcoming events, and valuable resources to share with you.
Additionally, I am excited to share that Mesa has had record-breaking growth across so many sectors from new builds to exciting companies landing and expanding in our community. Check out our FY 2023-2024 Annual Report!
Stay connected, stay safe, and enjoy the month ahead!
Warm Regards,
Councilmember Alicia Goforth

Join us for the celebration of the Red Mountain Park expansion! This public event will include a brief program with a ceremonial “goal kick” and tee-ball fun with players from the Oakland Athletics organization.
With this expansion, Red Mountain Park becomes the largest park in Mesa. It includes ten new multiuse fields, primarily for soccer and lacrosse, and four new baseball/softball fields. The baseball/softball fields each feature high-tech scoreboards fully funded by the Oakland A’s.
Thursday, September 5
5:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Red Mountain Park, 7745 E. Brown Road
(south side of Brown Road at multiuse fields)
Love Your City is almost here! This is a day for the residents in Mesa to come together and make a huge impact in the community. This year, we are partnering with JustServe to combine Love Your City with National Day of Service.
- Saturday, September 7, 2024
- 7:00 a.m. to noon—different time slots available
The opportunities below are open to anyone:
If you have a group (faith-based, team, corporate, etc.) that would like to volunteer for a project, email Katie Pollak at volunteer@mesaaz.gov for additional opportunities (not listed) available for organized groups.
Mark your calendar for G.A.I.N. Day!
G.A.I.N. (Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods) has always been about fostering community ties and enhancing safety in communities and neighborhoods throughout the state of Arizona. G.A.I.N. started in 1998 as a cooler weather alternative to National Night Out, typically held in August. In 2024, we are taking G.A.I.N. to the next level and making it exclusive to the City of Mesa by introducing G.A.I.N. The Mesa Way.
Anyone who wants to build a stronger, safer community in Mesa is encouraged to host a party and participate in G.A.I.N. Day - apartment complexes, mobile home communities, businesses, residential areas, and more.
We can't wait to stop by your neighborhood or business. Don't miss the deadline to register your party by September 15!
Saturday, November 2
3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

We honored a significant achievement for City of Mesa Police Department — the seizure of 200 pounds of fentanyl. Thank you to Representative Greg Stanton for presenting the congressional commendations to our brave men and women in uniform who exemplify police excellence.
It was a true honor to be part of such a special moment. Heartfelt thanks to our Mesa Police Officers for their unwavering dedication to keeping our streets safe!

Mesa proudly hosted the National League of Cities (NLC) Centennial Roadshow: 100 Years, 100 Cities. As part of NLC’s year-long celebration, this initiative highlights a century of dedication to strengthening local government and championing the needs of communities across the nation.
During the Mesa stop, NLC members got an up-close look at our city's innovative public safety and economic development efforts, visiting the Real Time Crime Center and the Mesa Business Builder.
