Bike to Work Day
April 17 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. The Plaza @ Mesa City Center 56 E. Main St.
Get ready to ride during Mesa's Bike to Work Day! The annual event encourages commuters to bike to work (or anywhere they need to go), helping save money and improve health -- all while reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality.
This is the second year the event is open to anyone who lives, works or enjoys spending time in Mesa. You can join the group ride or bike directly to the party at the Plaza at Mesa City Center. The first 300 people to RSVP and check in at the Mesa Bike to Work Day celebration will receive a limited-edition T-shirt designed by local artist Kyllan Maney and a voucher to use for breakfast that morning. All attendees can enjoy music from a local DJ, photo opportunity and complimentary coffee.

Safe Digging Month
Celebrate Safe Digging Month with us! April is the perfect time to tackle your outdoor projects. Remember to notify Arizona 811 at least two full working days before you start digging to have underground utility lines located and marked. The depths of utility lines vary, and multiple lines may exist in the same area. This simple step can help prevent injuries, property damage, and service outages. Once you’ve called 8-1-1:
- Wait until you receive responses from all the facilities listed on your ticket to begin digging.
- Hand-dig within two feet of marked facilities, supporting and protecting exposed facilities.
- Keep all locate marks visible and valid (15 days) for the duration of your project.
Remember, safety is everyone’s responsibility. Contacting Arizona 811 is easy, free, and it’s the law. Learn more at arizona811.com.

It’s Earth Month, and it's time to celebrate nature!
Even in our desert climate, April is the time when many plants burst into bloom or leaf out with fresh, bright-green leaves. We’re sharing some favorite ways to celebrate nature:
Earth Day (April 22) reminds us of the many ways we can protect our planet and make a lasting and positive impact. Visit our Earth Day page to find over 50 easy-to-implement ideas and actions you can take.Â
Arbor Day (April 26) falls on the last Friday of April and is a day to celebrate trees and the vital role they play in our community. Planting trees is a fun and rewarding way to positively impact the environment. Additionally, every tree you plant contributes to Mesa's “Trees Are Cool” initiative, the ambitious goal of planting one million trees by 2050. Please help us achieve this milestone by recording your newly planted tree on our community tree map.
