 Community Newsletter April 2024
Happy April Neighbors!
I hope you are enjoying this beautiful spring weather! What a perfect time to enjoy the many family fun events and activities happening in Mesa this month. In honor of Cesar Chavez Day on Sunday, March 31, we are celebrating with a free family-friendly event on Friday, March 29 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Eagles Park. Join us and enjoy food, inflatables, music, and more! Cesar Chavez's grandson, Andres Chavez, CEO of the Cesar Chavez Foundation, will also be celebrating with us!
Additionally, budget season has kicked off. Today, Council received a presentation and discussed the fiscal year 2024/2025 summary of the proposed budget. The meeting can be viewed on the Mesa Channel 11's YouTube page.
Lastly, it is now that time of the year to submit your annual Residential Wastewater Fee Adjustment Form. The City determines residential wastewater charges by calculating 90% of the home's average winter water consumption. This average is computed using the three lowest water readings from December, January, February, and March. Completing the form could potentially result in reduced monthly wastewater charges if you experienced a leak or if landscape watering accounted for a significant portion of your monthly usage between December and March. Forms must be turned in no later than July 1, 2024. For questions, contact Billing Operations at 480-644-2221 or billinginfo@mesaaz.gov.
If you ever have any questions, want to share about issues that are important to you, or if I can be of assistance, please reach out to me at district4@mesaaz.gov or 480-644-3004. My door is always open.

Celebrate Safe Digging Month with us! April is the perfect time to tackle your outdoor projects. Remember to notify Arizona 811 at least two full working days before you start digging to have underground utility lines located and marked. The depths of utility lines vary, and multiple lines may exist in the same area. This simple step can help prevent injuries, property damage, and service outages. Once you’ve called 8-1-1:
- Wait until you receive responses from all the facilities listed on your ticket to begin digging.
- Hand-dig within two feet of marked facilities, supporting and protecting exposed facilities.
- Keep all locate marks visible and valid (15 days) for the duration of your project.
Remember, safety is everyone’s responsibility. Contacting Arizona 811 is easy, free, and it’s the law.
