Excess Flow Valves (EFVs)
As an additional safety measure to our system, we install EFVs on gas service lines to limit gas flow if the line is broken or severely damaged. This is most often associated with excavation or vehicle impact with the meter assembly.
If you have an EFV, it is typically installed at the service line connection to the gas main or at the property line and can be identified by a washer on the meter riser.
Learn more about EFVs or the requirements and costs to have one installed.

Your cooperation in ensuring that vehicles are not parked in a manner that creates traffic hazards or obstructs visibility is greatly appreciated. MCC 8-6-3(Z). Find and Fix Leaks to Save Water and Money!
Finding and fixing leaks, especially silent ones that go unnoticed – like a leaky toilet – is one of the easiest ways to save water and money at home. That is why we celebrate Fix a Leak Week each year (this year it’s March 18-24) to raise awareness of how much water is wasted annually by dripping faucets, leaking toilets and broken sprinkler heads. Not sure where to start? Check out our Find and Fix Leaks page for DIY videos, tips on how to read your meter and chase down leaks at home, activities for kids and so much more!

Tomorrow's Mesa - 2050 General Plan Update
We began preparing an update to our General Plan in 2023. Since that time, approximately 10,000 people have participated in shaping the vision, guiding principles and strategies of this historic plan update. From January 4 to March 4, 2024, Mesa residents engaged in reviewing and providing input on the draft 2050 General Plan. Residents participated online or by attending six citywide public meetings. If you missed the meetings, view a brief visual summary of the plan.
While this marks the end of public comment period, residents can still engage in the process by attending public hearings in April and May. Hearing dates and times will be made available on the 2050 General Plan website, tomorrowsmesa.com. You can also visit our website to learn more and to access the Plan draft.
The General Plan is our roadmap for Mesa’s long-term growth, prosperity and well-being and is updated every ten years, as mandated by the State of Arizona. Should the Mesa City Council approve the Plan, Mesa residents will vote on the Plan during the November 2024 general election.
Together, we are moving forward to make Mesa an even more remarkable place to live, work, and prosper.
