Located at the heart of downtown Mesa, The Post is a new City-owned community and event space that involved the architectural restoration and transformation of the former Mesa Post Office, which operated in the building from 1936 to 1970. The renovation incorporated new technology and modern amenities while maintaining many of the 1930's original building features of Mesa's first 1st-class post office.
The Post will eventually include a Neon Garden and outdoor event venue featuring iconic neon business signs preserved by the City of Mesa.
Join us for the Grand Opening ceremony of The Post, a modern historic venue in downtown Mesa. The event will be held on Thursday, November 2 at 10:30 a.m. at 26 N Macdonald. City dignitaries and historic preservation professionals will be in attendance so, you don’t want to miss this opportunity to be part of history!

At Thursday’s City Council Study Session, Downtown Transformation staff presented conceptual proposals for Site 17. In August, a Request for Proposals (RFP) was issued by the City of Mesa, seeking a partner for redevelopment of Site 17. This RFP asked developers to present their vision for the 27-acre site, while utilizing the community established guiding principles created during the 2019 planning process for the property. Two separate developers submitted proposals in response to the RFP, Caliber Companies and Culdesac.
After the presentation on both proposals, City Council directed city staff to proceed with negotiations with Culdesac. The Culdesac proposal would create a “Car-Lite” community, built around pedestrian and bicycle activity. The proposed concept includes 1,000 residential units including townhomes, courtyard apartments, and mid-rise apartment styles. It also includes for-rent and for-sale product, up to 50,000 sq ft of retail space, and other amenities. Culdesac proposes to have the entire project completed in three phases over a ten-year period.
Downtown Transformation staff will now begin working with Culdesac toward a detailed development plan and agreement.

Carbon Monoxide Safety
There is no place like home for the holidays. As you prepare that delicious dinner for friends and family or curl up in front of the warm fire sipping on that tasty cocoa overflowing with marshmallows, ensure that your natural gas appliances are in good working condition.
If you use gas as your energy source, whether it be your stove, fireplace, furnace, or any appliance using gas fueling, you are at risk for carbon monoxide poisoning (CO).
When protecting those you love against CO, always follow manufacturers' instructions for installing, caring for, and using gas appliances and equipment, and consider installing CO detectors. If you suspect CO is present, get fresh air immediately, seek medical attention for symptoms, and call 911 or our emergency line at 480-644-4277.
Click here to learn more about CO and how to recognize the symptoms.
