Excess Flow Valves (EFVs)
EFVs are installed on new/renewed gas service lines serving single and multi-family residences and small commercial services not exceeding 1,000 SCFH. EFVs are in-line mechanical devices designed to limit the flow of gas if a service line is damaged between the EFV and the gas meter. A washer on the meter riser indicates an EFV is installed.
Check if your service has an EFV or ask about requirements and costs to have one installed or email gasinfo@mesaaz.gov.
If you see or suspect damage to a service line or smell gas, call 480-644-4277.
