Green Business Certification Program Launches in Mesa In late February, Local First Arizona (LFA) teamed up with the City of Mesa to recognize independently-owned businesses that are doing good for the planet through the Arizona Green Business Program. This certification process delivers strategies that reduce a company’s environmental impact, positively affect the bottom line, and give businesses recognition for their efforts. Focus areas include waste diversion, energy consumption, water conservation, transportation emissions, and creating a sustainability culture in the workplace.

Intelligent Trees - The Documentary
Wed. July 21, 6:30 p.m. Watch this amazing documentary exploring the various ways that trees communicate with each other--from a forester's observations, as well as through the microscope of a scientist. After the documentary, there will be a panel of local experts in their field--a tree expert, an environmental advocate, and a city councilwoman--to discuss their perspective on the documentary and how we can apply this knowledge to the Greater Phoenix Area.

Can it be RECYCLED? Do you have leftover fireworks and wondering what to do with them? (OK, I know it's unlikely, but it's possible). Don't worry, we got you covered...
Do not place them in the blue or black barrel - that is extremely dangerous. Instead, we will accept them at our Household Hazardous Materials Facility for safe disposal.
The facility will also accept pool chemical bottles, propane tanks, kerosene or lighter fluid containers, even if "empty."
When these items are compacted in the trash truck, they can combust and ignite a garbage truck fire, which can cause serious harm to our drivers, residents, and equipment.
