The City of Mesa is requesting that electric customers within our Electric Service Area conserve energy between the hours of 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. today through Friday, June 18 due to extremely high electric market pricing. We purchase a portion of the power supplies on the wholesale energy market and market pricing is expected to be extremely high during this time period.
Conserving energy will help to reduce your bill by helping to avoid additional energy purchases for electric customers. We suggest taking measures such as shifting laundry or dishwashing to off-peak hours, turning off lights, keeping doors and windows closed, closing blinds/window shades, shifting pool pump hours away from the afternoon, cooking using a microwave or outdoor barbecue instead of an indoor electric oven or stovetop, and use ceiling fans to reduce your air conditioning needs (increasing the thermostat setting).
For those customers who need assistance with Mesa summer energy bills, find more information about the Summer Electric Assistance (SEA) Program.
