Why should you consider volunteering?

Consider sharing your most precious gift with your neighbors- your time.  The City of Mesa offers many opportunities for residents to help build a better Mesa.  Volunteers are needed in our art center, libraries, museums, neighborhoods, parks, police and fire departments, and many other areas.  You can click the button above to view our searchable volunteer website that will make it even easier for you to find opportunities to help your city.  Here are some great reasons to start volunteering:

  • Because of your sense of commitment and pride for the community
  • To give back to the community
  • To accomplish work that is important in the community
  • Recognition
  • Receive on-the-job training
  • Develop skills in a municipal environment
  • Networking opportunities
  • Because you believe in the cause
  • Explore your strengths and use your skills and experiences to help others
  • You'd like to make a difference by joining one of our many Boards and Committees.  To learn more about each Board and Committee and to submit your application: City Boards and Committees

The City of Mesa provides a quality of work environment where volunteers are valued and respected for the role they play in contributing their time and talents.

MLK Virtual Parade

23rd Annual Virtual MLK Jr. Day Parade- 1/18/21

Each year, the City of Mesa, East Valley Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Committee along with the greater community come together to honor and celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a parade and festival. While COVID-19 has certainly presented us with challenges for in-person events, it will not deter us from celebrating on Monday, January 18, 2021.

In keeping with health guidelines for the pandemic we will not be hosting an in-person parade and festival in 2021. However, in the spirit of adjustments for a purpose, we will be conducting a virtual celebration including the 23rd Annual Virtual Parade. Entries will be compiled into a virtual parade and will be ready to view on the web and social media on Monday, 1/18.

“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal’.” -Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
