ANATOMY OF A PIG - (EXTRA CHARGE OF $15 PER PARTICIPANT THIS IS A TWO-HOUR CLASS FROM 1 - 3 PM). Move on to more advanced dissection skills and learn the ins and outs of a fetal pig. Pigs are very important to medical science because their anatomy is very similar to humans. They are especially important in helping to advance technologies for heart disease. Come take a class that will help to prepare you for a premedicine degree.

Learning Labs for Homeschoolers
Join us to explore and understand the wonders of the Sonoran Desert. Each month participants will take an informative hike followed by a tasty snack and a classroom investigation. Our uniquely designed curriculum blends hands-on, inquiry-based learning with a dose of fun and is taught by enthusiastic Garden staff and volunteers.

 2014 Ostrich Festival
The 26th Annual Ostrich Festival will again take place at Chandler’s Tumbleweed Park at the corner of McQueen and Germann 2250 S. McQueen Rd. - just south of the Loop 202 San Tan freeway at McQueen.
The Ostrich Festival Parade and Ostrich Festival Fun Run will take place on Saturday, March 1st, 2014. Fun Run registration starts at 6:30am and the run starts at 8am with the parade to follow at 10am - both events will be taking place in Downtown Chandler.
Discounts will be available at all local Fry’s Groceries starting February 15th. Family Fun Packs will be sold for $67 (a $17savings) and include 2 adult, 2 youth and 2 all-day carnival ride passes. The Arizona SciTech Festival is a state-wide celebration of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM or STEAM when you include the arts) held annually in February and March. Through a series of over 400 expos, workshops, conversations, exhibitions and tours held in diverse neighborhoods throughout the state, the Arizona SciTech Festival excites and informs Arizonans from ages 3 to 103 about how STEM will drive our state for next 100 years. Pick up your MIMkids Passport and embark on a musical journey with MIMkids Musical Adventures Series, an educational program designed for kids aged 6–10. Participants will discover new cultures by actively participating in music making, creating musical instruments, and exploring MIM’s exhibits—with a designated tour guide, of course! Each four-week session focuses on a different continent, giving participants a well-rounded overview of music from around the world and an opportunity to collect MIMkids passport stamps. Students are welcome to attend. This one-day seminar is entitled, "Free Markets and the Constitution." Participants will explore the principles of free market economics and the relationship between the Constitution and the free market. In addition to intellectual lectures, the seminar offers the following entirely free of charge: books which supplement the seminar, continental breakfast and lunch, and a certificate of completion and CEUs for five instructional hours through Arizona Christian University

Is your Child interested in Architecture?
Arizona Kids Build (AKB) is a program which culminates in the students building scale models of their own ideal shelters. AKB will help students understand the necessary elements required in designing a human shelter in the desert environment in which we live. This process incorporates math, science, art, communication, and language skills and is appropriate for students age 8 to 14. This class will have 3 sessions:
Session One: Friday, March 7th from 12PM to 1PM at Covenant Homeschool Resource Center: Introduction to the Program
Session Two: Friday, March 21st from 10AM to 12PM, at Desert Shelters Field Trip to Taliesin West (an $80 value!) 12621 N Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd, Scottsdale, AZ.
Session Three: Saturday, March 29th, from 9AM to 3PM, at CHSRC. Students will build their own shelters on this day.
Cost: $20 per student which includes a project notebook, admission for one parent helper and student on the Tailesin West Desert "shelter" tour (an $80 value), and course instruction by an AIA architect during Sessions One and Three.

Session 1: March 18th and 19th, testing for K-12th grade Session 2: March 20th and 21st, testing for 3rd-8th grade

Register before Friday, February 21st, to avoid a $5.00 late registration fee.
