Maricopa County, AZ — Supervisor Mark Stewart has been appointed to serve on the newly established Community Initiatives Coordinating Committee (CICC) through the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG). This appointment underscores Supervisor Stewart’s longstanding commitment to child welfare and building stronger, more resilient communities across the region.
Formed in April 2025, the CICC is a 21-member body made up of representatives from local and tribal governments and respected community leaders. The committee is tasked with shaping the strategic direction for regional human services planning and guiding key community initiatives that address pressing social challenges.
“As a father, public servant, and advocate for children and families, I’m honored to help lead efforts that directly impact the well-being of our residents,” said Supervisor Stewart. “The CICC’s mission aligns with my deep commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and ensuring every child and family has the opportunity to thrive.”
The CICC’s work includes establishing and overseeing targeted action teams, each with a defined scope, timeline, and deliverables. These teams will tackle critical issues by leveraging technical expertise and on-the-ground knowledge, helping ensure a coordinated and impactful regional response.
Supervisor Stewart brings a wealth of experience to the committee, including years of leadership focused on youth programs, public safety, and community partnerships. His service on the CICC will help advance the committee’s vision for a healthier, more inclusive Maricopa County.
