Around the District
 Our region is experiencing major investments by Taiwanese companies, and it was exciting to hear from additional high tech companies who may also have an interest in our area at Taiwan Tech Day in Arizona.
 Top: I was recognized at the June meeting of the Maricopa Association of Government's (MAG) Transportation Policy Committee for serving as Chair the past year. Bottom: At a recent meeting of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council's International Leadership Council, statistics show International now represents 24% of our economic development prospects.
 There was a full house at the Year in Review and Business Awards sponsored by the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce.
 Top: I joined Gila River Indian Community Gov. Stephen Roe Lewis for a ribbon cutting at the Gila River Resorts & Casinos – Santan Mountain, a beautiful new facility that celebrates its official grand opening on June 30.
Bottom: The ribbon cutting for Dignity Health Easy Valley Graduate Medical Education, Internal Medicine Program is a major milestone for medical education in our community.
 At the Intel Community Advisory Panel meeting, I was reminded that Intel is not just an incredible employer in Arizona, but also an outstanding community partner. I was especially pleased with their water recycling stewardship.
 Pastor David Wade (center) of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Mesa lead us in the invocation and pledge at a June Board of Supervisors meeting.
 At a recent Chandler Chamber of Commerce event, I was honored to share the stage with my elected County colleagues, and our new State legislator, Julie Willoughby. We talked about what makes Maricopa County one of the best run, and fastest growing counties in the United States.
 As Chairman of the Transportation Policy Committee for MAG, I was one of several speakers at a "Secure Your Load Day" press conference where we reminded the public about the danger of debris on our roads.
 At the Chandler Chamber Annual Community Awards, the Chandler Cup was awarded to an exceptional community leader, Michael Pollack.
Recorder Introduces Maricopa Title Alert
The Maricopa County Recorder's office launched Maricopa Title Alert, a free service to help residents stay informed of document recordings and protect against title fraud and other unlawful documents.
This tool allows users to enter and monitor recordings containing either individual or business names. When a recorded document contains the entered name, the user will receive an email with a link to the relevant document. This proactive measure allows user to monitor recordings and immediately tack action if necessary.

Maricopa County Approves Over $2 Million in Funding for Homelessness Services
The Board of Supervisors approved more than $2 million in funding to support essential homelessness services. The funding will be awarded to a variety of local organizations that will deliver street outreach, emergency shelter, and rapid rehousing services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
The approved projects are the result of a collaborative effort between Maricopa County and the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES).
The projects will begin July 1, 2023 and will be funded through June 30, 2024. For more information on investments made by Maricopa County on homelessness, visit Maricopa.gov/HS.

Sun Lakes Rehabilitation Project
The Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will be doing a pavement rehabilitation project within the Sun Lakes, Units 11-22 community, beginning July 5 through November 2, 2023.
This work will be performed in eight phases, with each phase expected to last two weeks. Here's more information about the project and the work schedule.

Summer Reading Program a Success!
It's not too late to participate in Maricopa County's Summer Reading program, All Together Now. You can sign up and earn points until the program ends August 1.
District 1 has two transportation themed reading challenges: one for adults and one for children. We've had 226 readers participate in the kids challenge, and 148 participate in the adult challenge, for a total of 374 readers!

Maricopa County Wins 58 National Awards
Maricopa County earned 58 National Achievement Awards this year from the National Association of Counties (NACo) for designing and implementing programs that have made a measurable, positive impact on the community. Sixteen county departments, elected offices, and courts were honored in service categories including public safety, health, and information technology, among others. Maricopa County’s Election Command Center won a coveted “Best in Category” award for Civic Education and Public Information.
