Holiday Scams
Black Friday and Cyber Monday kicked off the holiday shopping season, and you're not the only one looking for a deal. Scammers are also looking to score, but with your personal and financial information. The most prevalent holiday scams are non-delivery schemes. In a non-delivery scam, a buyer pays for a product online but never receives it. Steer free of holiday scams by using the following tips:

Shred-A-Thon & Prescription Drug Take-Back
MCAO teamed up with the Surprise Police Department to host a Shred-A-Thon and Prescription Drug Take-Back. Close to 100 people participated and dropped off documents and unused medications.
Do you have old documents or expired medication? Drop them off at our next event Saturday, December 3rd from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Glendale Adult Center. This event is free and open to all Maricopa County residents.
Safety Fair at Sun City West
Over 200 people participated in our Safety Fair at Sun City West! County Attorney Rachel Mitchell shared office updates, MCAO Detective Ken Silva spoke about active shooter situations, and Stacey Sutherland from TRUST AZ spoke about the warning signs of human trafficking. Thanks to everyone that participated!
Phoenix Veterans Day Parade
MCAO employees participated in the Phoenix Veterans Day Parade and helped honor veterans and their loved ones for their service and patriotism to our country.
Community Forum on Fentanyl
MCAO partnered with the Tolleson Union High School District to host another community forum on fentanyl. Over 100 parents and students stopped by and heard from our office, Community Bridges, and the Avondale Police Department.

Now is the time to talk to your teens about the dangers of fentanyl and counterfeit pills. Here are the key points you need to know:
