As schools near the end of the 2020-2021 school year, it’s important to note that Public Health is still seeing COVID-19 outbreaks in K-12 schools. The latest data show, of 298 total COVID-19 school outbreaks during the pandemic, 31 (or about 10%) are still active. Students make up 72% of all school-related outbreak cases. School administrators and parents can find resources to help reduce risk in school environments at Maricopa.gov/COVID19Schools. |

COVID-19 In Our Community
There are definitely more signs that seem like a “return to normal” across Maricopa County. Additional traffic on the roads. More people in public places. Changes in business operations. But Public Health wants everyone to know, COVID-19 is still circulating widely in our community. The 7-day rolling case average as of April 16 was 494 cases reported per day, up from 400 cases per day on April 2. We ask that you still take precautions as we work to get more residents fully protected through vaccination:
- Get vaccinated
- Stay home when you’re sick
- Avoid large groups
- Wear masks and keep distance when in public, even after you’re vaccinated
- Wash hands regularly

What Should Vaccinated People Do?
Just because you’re fully vaccinated doesn’t mean you should stop taking preventive measures.
We encourage people who are fully vaccinated to follow Public Health guidelines to continue to protect friends, loved ones, coworkers, and fellow community members.
