Maricopa County has hundreds of open appointments available at an event in central Phoenix this weekend, and Arizona Department of Health Services will be making more first-dose appointments available at state-run sites each Friday, starting tomorrow. We have more details below. |

Harmon Park Appointment Availability
Public Health is partnering with University of Arizona and City of Phoenix on a vaccination event at Harmon Park all week. The goal is to increase vaccination numbers for residents in the area and we’ve had good participation so far. There are about 900 appointments still available this weekend if you’re interested. You must be a resident of Phoenix who is 55 years or older to sign up.

Grocery Workers Eligible For Closed Vaccine Events
Do you work in a grocery store or a store that mainly sells food, or know someone who does? We are holding closed vaccine events for these frontline essential workers.

How Many Maricopa County Residents Are Fully Vaccinated?
575,962 residents have been fully vaccinated, meaning they’ve received two doses of Moderna or Pfizer vaccines, or one dose of Johnson and Johnson vaccine. This is great progress, but there are about 4.5 million people in Maricopa County so we still have a long way to go.

It’s Not Over, Folks
We have seen a sharp decrease in COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths over the past few months, but there are several challenges ahead. First, we are still learning about the COVID-19 variants spreading across the U.S. and here in Arizona. We do not know yet how they will affect the spread of the disease.
Second, we have not yet vaccinated enough people to achieve community immunity. That means the virus still has plenty of people it can infect.
That’s why we all need to keep taking preventive measures.
Stay home when you’re sick, mask up in public, and limit contact with people outside of your household. When it’s your turn to get a vaccine, we encourage you to do so.

Maricopa County Cares
Over the past year, Maricopa County has poured energy, time, resources, and funding into a coordinated emergency response to the pandemic and to the associated economic fallout. The Board of Supervisors has allocated federal dollars from the CARES Act to support individuals, families, and businesses during this challenging time, including rental and utility assistance, business and nonprofit grants, and more.
The infographic below shows some of the ways we’ve invested in the community.
