Guidance For People Who Are Fully Vaccinated
|
|
The CDC has issued new guidance for Americans who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The guidance says people who are fully vaccinated (2 shots of Pfizer or Moderna, or 1 shot of Johnson and Johnson) and are at least two weeks past their final shot can:
- Safely gather with other vaccinated people indoors without masks
- Safely gather indoors, unmasked, with unvaccinated people from a single household so long as those unvaccinated people are at low-risk for severe COVID-19
The CDC continues to recommend everyone (including fully-vaccinated individuals) wear masks in public, stay away from medium and large events, and avoid non-essential travel.

COVID-19 Risk By Age Group
Maricopa County is currently offering vaccine to all adults 55 years and older. One goal of an age-based approach to vaccination is to protect those who are at the highest risk of serious illness due to COVID-19.
The latest statistics show:
- 65% of hospitalizations due to COVID-19 are age 55+
- 90% of deaths due to COVID-19 are age 55+
It’s estimated that vaccinating adults 55 and older will address up to 2/3 of all adults with high-risk medical conditions.
