K-12 School Staff & Childcare Workers Can Get Their Vaccine At Private Events
|
|
We stopped by a private school vaccination event at Deer Valley School District to see how these events are providing K-12 school staff and childcare workers a more convenient way to get protected from COVID-19. This event was just one of more than a dozen countywide serving anyone who is an employee of a public, private, or charter K-12 school or is a childcare worker in the host district’s boundaries. This includes teachers, bus drivers, cafeteria staff, and more.

100,000 Doses Given At County POD
Over the weekend, the POD at Chandler Gilbert Community College administered its 100,000th dose of COVID-19 vaccine! We are so grateful for our partners, Dignity Health, and the staff and volunteers who have made this operation run smoothly over the past six weeks. We know there is a lot more work to do and, along with our many community partners, we are committed to doing what it takes to get vaccine to every Maricopa County resident who wants it. Thank you for your support and patience as more vaccine rolls out.

What To Expect After You Get The Vaccine
According to clinical trial data reviewed by the FDA, the most commonly-reported side effects, are pain at the injection site, tiredness, headache, muscle pain, chills, joint pain, and low fever. More people experienced these side effects after the second dose than after the first dose, so it is important for vaccination providers and recipients to expect that there may be some side effects after either dose. These effects are a good sign that your immune system is responding to the vaccine.

Long-Term Vaccination Plans
Once the vaccine is more widely available, traditional locations for health care and immunizations such as doctor’s offices, health clinics and pharmacies will likely provide vaccinations. Drive-through or walk-up vaccination events at community spaces may also be offered. All vaccination locations will take additional safety measures for COVID-19, including physical distancing, personal protective equipment (PPE), and extra sanitation steps.
While vaccine is still limited, we will continue to follow federal and state guidance for prioritizing vaccine doses to those at the highest risk.
