Local hospitals are starting to see a decrease in COVID-19 patients, which is a relief. But think about all they’ve been through over the past year. Recently, we spoke with the Chief Clinical Officer at Valleywise Health about how his staff is coping, the feedback they’ve received from the community, and the promise brought by COVID-19 vaccines. |

Vaccination Options For Adults 75 And Older
- There are 17 pharmacies in Maricopa County offering vaccination appointments to adults 75 years and older. Search for appointments >
- There are a select number of first dose appointments for adults 75 and older at our Chandler, Goodyear, and Grand Canyon University PODs. The Grand Canyon University POD is close to public transportation and allows those with appointments to drive-through or walk-through to get their vaccine. We expect some scheduling availability for those 75 and older each day, but the number of appointments and which location they are offered at will vary. You can check appointment availability for these three sites at azdhs.gov.
- Public Health is also working to set up targeted vaccination events for individuals 75 and older in Maricopa County in the next 2-4 weeks. If you are 75 or older and want to be notified when an event will be in your area, please fill out this brief survey. We will contact you when there are events in your area and provide information about how to schedule an appointment.

Second Dose Appointments
- Email notifications for private second dose events open for scheduling were sent February 4-5 to more than 14,000 people vaccinated with first doses between January 21st and January 30th at Chandler, Goodyear and Grand Canyon University PODs. This adds to the 45,000 email invites already sent to those vaccinated with first doses through January 20th.
- If you are in this group, you will receive an email from podvaccine-noreply@azdhs.gov. Sometimes this email ends up in spam folders, so you’ll want to check spam/junk if you did not see the email.
- If you are having issues scheduling your second dose, please fill out this brief form so that we can collect the information needed to get in touch with you.

School Vaccination Events
Do you know a school or childcare worker? Make sure they know about some upcoming vaccination events specifically for them!
Private vaccination events for school staff and childcare workers are underway across the region. A two-day event for childcare workers and staff of public, private, and charter K-12 schools within the Deer Valley School District boundaries began today.
These events serve anyone who is an employee of a public, private, or charter K-12 school or is a childcare worker in the host district’s boundaries.
Another benefit? If school and childcare staff attend these events to get their COVID-19 vaccine, there will be more appointments available at public vaccination sites for other eligible groups, like adults age 75+.
For more information on school vaccination events, visit Maricopa.gov/COVID19vaccine1B.
