Appointment Options For Adults 75 Years And Older
|
|
Maricopa County Public Health is working to provide additional vaccine appointments to adults 75 years and older. In the coming weeks, we hope to set up targeted vaccination events in high-demand areas specifically for those 75+. There may also be additional opportunities at our regional PODs, and we are still adding more pharmacies to the list serving this age group. If you are 75 years or older, or trying to secure an appointment for someone who is, know that more opportunities are coming. Thank you for your patience!

Second Dose Appointments
More than 45,000 email notifications went out over the past several days to people who received their first vaccine dose at county PODs through January 20. The emails contain an invitation to private, second dose events happening in the next few weeks. If you are in this group, you should have received an email from podvaccine-noreply@azdhs.gov. Sometimes this email ends up in spam folders, so please check spam/junk if you did not see the email. You will need this email to get instructions on how to make an appointment.
Did you get your first dose at the Chandler or Goodyear PODs and haven’t gotten the email? Let us know.
Note: If you were vaccinated at State Farm Stadium, that is a state-run site, so ADHS is handling second-dose appointments.

What If I Didn’t Get An Email Invitation?
We’ve heard that folks who registered multiple people under the same email address/login are only getting a second dose invitation for one person scheduled under that email address. We are working with Arizona Department of Health Services to address this issue so that EVERYONE who qualifies gets an invitation for their second dose.

Am I Eligible To Receive A COVID-19 Vaccine At A School POD?
Anyone who needs to be on-site for school to function is eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine at a school POD.
- This includes, but is not limited to, teachers, custodial staff, bus drivers, substitute teachers, and school administrators who do not work remotely.
- Childcare workers are also eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine at a school POD event that is available to staff from the school district in which they provide childcare services.
- Licensed and unlicensed childcare workers are eligible. Eligible childcare workers provide care for 5 or more children who do not live in their household.
School and childcare staff can find their POD site at Maricopa.gov/COVID19vaccineschools

COVID-19 Variants
You may have heard about new strains of COVID-19 that are beginning to appear in the United States. Arizona Department of Health Services confirmed three cases of the so-called “UK variant” in Arizona. Scientists believe this strain of the virus spreads more easily than previous strains, which could cause more cases and lead to more people being hospitalized. However, we don’t know whether the UK variant causes more severe disease; scientists are still learning about this strain. Public Health expected the UK variant to show up in our state and county and wants to remind everyone that the COVID-19 vaccines will still be effective at preventing disease caused by this strain.
