Email Notifications About Additional Appointments
|
|
Maricopa County Public Health is in the process of sending more than 45,000 email notifications to people who received their first vaccine dose at county PODs through January 20th. The emails contain an invitation to private, second dose events happening in the next few weeks. The goal is getting these second doses administered as close to the manufacturer recommended timeframe (21 days for Pfizer) as possible. If you are in this group, make sure to check your inbox (and your spam folders) for an email from podvaccine-noreply@azdhs.gov. This email will have instructions on how to make an appointment. Additional information about second dose appointments is available at Maricopa.gov/Covid19Vaccine.
Note: if you were vaccinated at State Farm Stadium, visit the AZDHS website for their notification process regarding second dose appointments.

Maricopa County Vaccination Efforts
Maricopa County sets up and organizes both public PODs and additional private events where people who are currently eligible can get first and second doses. These efforts are all dependent on the amount of vaccine allocated to Arizona by the federal government, and the percentage of that allotment that is then allocated to Maricopa County.

Here’s what we’ve done so far with our vaccine supply:
- Maricopa County developed the processes needed to vaccinate large numbers of people quickly and launched six PODs across the county, some of which deliver as many as 4,000 doses per day.
- The Maricopa County PODs have delivered more than 223,000 vaccine doses as of yesterday in five weeks of operations.
- As mentioned above, Public Health is in the process of scheduling second doses for approximately 45,000 people who received their first vaccination at the Chandler and Goodyear PODs through Jan. 20th.
- In addition to Chandler and Goodyear sites, Grand Canyon University will serve as a location for second dose appointments and is more accessible for those who rely on public transportation or do not have their own car.
- Public Health has also distributed Moderna vaccine supplies to providers who are vaccinating other priority groups including:
As additional vaccine becomes available, more appointments and locations will open up. For questions about eligibility, visit Maricopa.gov/COVID19Vaccine.
Good News, Bad News
The good news is that COVID-19 case counts and COVID-19 positive hospital inpatient visits are decreasing. The bad news is that Arizona still has the highest rate of COVID-19 cases in the United States, according to CDC. Taken together, the data make it clear that we all still need to take consistent, preventive measures to slow the spread and protect ourselves and our loved ones.
Remember: don’t just rely on social distancing or masking alone; the more preventive measures you take, the more protected you’ll be.
