Vaccine Appointment Troubleshooting
|
|
COVID-19 vaccination appointments for people in Phases 1A and 1B are made through the Arizona Department of Health Services. To schedule, go to podvaccine.azdhs.gov and create an account. Need help? Call ADHS Tech Support at 602-542-1000 or email podvaccine-triage@azdhs.gov. We do understand that these support lines are getting a lot of calls and emails so please be patient.
If you are a senior age 75 or older without access to a computer, or have a loved one in that priority group and want to connect them to someone who can help with setting their appointment at the State Farm vaccination site, please call 1-844-542-8201 and press Option #8.
Remember: there are an estimated 500,000 people who are eligible to be vaccinated in Phases 1A and 1B, which requires about one million doses of vaccine. So far, we’ve received 200,000 doses. More locations and appointments will be added as more vaccine becomes available. If you can’t find an appointment today, check back in a few days.

Why Do I Need An Appointment?
Scheduling appointments helps ensure the vaccine provider prepares the right number of doses so they are not wasted, helps you plan your time, and keeps the number of people coming to the site at one time manageable so that you do not have long wait times.

Who Is Eligible To Get Vaccinated?
Right now, vaccination appointments are being offered to priority populations in Phase 1B. Information pertaining to each group is linked below:

What About Other Phase 1B Populations?
Adults living in congregate settings and essential workers who are not already eligible will be able to get vaccinated in Phase 1B after the prioritized Phase 1B groups. It will likely be weeks before this happens.
Some examples of essential workers who may be eligible in this phase include:
- Food- and agriculture-related occupations
- United States Postal Service workers
- Transit workers
Once the eligible list is finalized and more information is available, updates will be posted at Maricopa.gov/COVID19Vaccine1B.

Immune Response To COVID-19 Vaccines
Vaccines are designed to provoke an immune response in our body. So when you hear about “side effects” from the COVID-19 vaccine, people are mostly talking about the “symptoms” we’d want and expect when our body is introduced a new germ. Some common symptoms reported after getting the COVID-19 vaccine are pain at the injection site, fatigue, headaches, sore muscles, and fever. These typically go away within about a day.

Public Health’s Role In Fighting COVID-19 And Distributing Vaccine
When there’s an outbreak of a communicable disease, Public Health’s role is to collect data, analyze that data, and make recommendations to members of the public and policy makers for how to stop the spread of the disease. Much of that data, and many of those recommendations, can be found at Maricopa.gov/COVID19.
Maricopa County vaccine doses come from the allocation given to Arizona by the CDC. Public Health makes decisions about how to effectively distribute these doses based on supply and state guidance on prioritization. This involves setting up and running vaccination sites, as well as getting vaccine doses to health care providers and other partners in a way that’s equitable.

Stay Home If Possible
Home is the safest place to be as cases rise in our community. Do your best to limit social gatherings and outings. When you do go out, make sure to wear a mask and keep six feet of distance from those outside your household. Remember, a mask alone or social distance alone doesn’t provide perfect protection; instead, it’s a combination of measures that tends to work best. And always, stay home when you’re sick so you don’t spread whatever you have to others. |

New Helpline For Child Care Providers
Maricopa County has been awarded a grant to provide a help line for child care providers throughout Arizona. Two trained Child Care Health Consultant liaisons will join the Public Health Call Center to provide support to those child care centers not enrolled in the First Things First Quality First program.
These trained health experts can address providers’ questions and concerns about required and recommended health and safety strategies that child care centers should follow to reopen or stay open safely. The AZ Health Child Care Helpline is free and available to child care facility staff and directors, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
