|
|
Hundreds of thousands of people are eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations in Maricopa County in Phase 1B. If you didn’t get an appointment today on the first day of sign-up, don’t worry. There will be more locations and appointment times opening in the coming days.
Here are the priority populations in Phase 1B.
- Adults age 75 and older
- Pre-K-12 Teachers and child care staff
- Law enforcement and security services
- Individuals eligible in Phase 1A who still need their first or second doses
If you are not in these groups, it’s not your turn yet. We know how important this vaccination effort is. We know many of you want an appointment now. As more vaccine becomes available, we will be able to provide more options. For now, we are working as hard as we can to get eligible residents in Phase 1A and 1B vaccinated in the timeliest manner possible. Below, you’ll find the latest information about the process.

Appointment Availability Update
There are no walk-ins available in Phase 1B. You must have an appointment. Here is the latest information on appointments as of Monday, 1/11 at 4:30 p.m.
While all of our existing Maricopa County PODs (regional vaccination sites) are currently booked through the end of January, there are other options available:
|
- Adults 75 and older will have access to vaccine at select local pharmacies. Search for appointments >
- Special events are being planned for school staff and law enforcement staff eligible in Phase 1B. This will ensure they are not competing with others in Phase 1B for appointments.
- Appointments for all Phase 1B prioritized populations are available 24/7 at the State Farm Stadium site run by ADHS. Learn more >

Adults Age 75 And Older
Any adult age 75 or older is eligible and prioritized in Phase 1B. To register, adults in this category can register online or complete the registration by phone by dialing 211. In either case, you will be asked a few questions to determine your eligibility.
One key point: each individual must meet the 75+ requirement. That means if your spouse is 75 and you are not, you would not be eligible for the vaccine until you turn 75. Similarly, it is not your turn yet if you are an adult with chronic medical conditions but are not yet 75 years old.

School And Child Care Workers
Teachers and staff from K-12 schools and early child care centers are eligible and prioritized in Phase 1B. Home-based child care providers are also eligible if they provide care to 5 or more children who are not part of their household.
We are working with school districts across the county to hold events specifically for school staff and childcare workers. This will help you be able to have specific days and times near you where you can get vaccinated along with others in this category. More information will be posted this week (week of January 11) at Maricopa.gov/COVID19Vaccine1B.

Law Enforcement And Protective Services Workers
Law enforcement officers and people who work in protective services are eligible and prioritized in Phase 1B. This includes all sworn officers and government-employed security officers.
Before making an appointment, check with your employer first. Maricopa County is working with multiple jurisdictions to offer special vaccination events to individuals in this category, so your employer may have more information on other vaccine distribution plans for you based on your employment.

In The Meantime…
Arizona continues to be a worldwide hotspot for COVID-19. With so many new cases, the risk is real and it’s everywhere. All of us need to be consistent in taking preventive measures to decrease our chance of getting or spreading the virus.
That means:
|
- Limit contact with people outside of your household.
- Wear a mask and keep six feet of distance when you are around people outside of your household. Remember, outside is safer than inside.
- Stay home when you’re sick, and be cautious even if you feel well in case you’re infected and asymptomatic.
- Follow quarantine guidelines if you have been exposed to COVID-19.
- Wash your hands regularly.
- Get a flu shot if you haven’t already.
- Get a COVID-19 vaccine when it’s your turn.
We recommend these measures because we know they work, but only if all of us do them consistently and correctly. Get more information on preventive measures and what to do if you’re sick at Maricopa.gov/COVID19.
