The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors issued a proclamation on October 7 recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The proclamation is part of a long-running commitment by the Board to shed light on the issue and comes at a time when there are troubling indications that domestic violence is increasing.
To raise awareness about this important issue, the County Administration Building, located at 301 W. Jefferson Street, Phoenix, will be lit purple throughout the month of October. You can learn more about the issue and how to provide support to survivors on the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence website.
Arizona Fire & Medical Authority
I was honored to be presented a commemorative helmet from the Arizona Fire & Medical Authority. They play a critical role in providing public safety services in many areas in our District. We recently presented them with a check of almost a million dollars from CARES act funds to help offset some of the unusual expenses they have incurred during this pandemic. I am proud to help support this important service.
I toured the new Banner Health Ocotillo Medical Center in Chandler that will open next month. We are so fortunate to have this state of the art hospital facility in our neighborhood. This facility will have cutting edge technology including robotic surgery and the latest measures to ensure the highest level of patient and employee safety. Thank you to CEO Laura Robertson and COO Nate Shinagawa for a great tour.
