If You Test Positive
If you test positive for COVID-19, you will be contacted by Maricopa County Public Health. One way we contact you is through text message. The text will include a survey that will help us begin your case investigation. Among the things we’ll be asking:
- What symptoms you are experiencing (if any) and how severe they are
- What underlying medical conditions you have (if any)
- Best contact information to reach you
Providing up-to-date contact information is vital to our case investigation and contact tracing efforts. If we are unable to get in touch with you, we will not be able to assist in alerting your close contacts about their exposure to COVID-19, which could mean a greater chance of the virus spreading to others.

How You Can Help Reduce the Spread of COVID-19
It may not feel like it, but you help reduce the spread of the virus when you:
- Stay home when you’re sick
- Practice strict social distancing
- Wear masks in public
- Practice good hygiene, and
- Avoid large groups.
The results of these actions are things you may not easily see: cases that never happen because you reduced the spread. Lives saved. Healthcare providers that have enough hospital beds and healthcare resources to go around for those that need it.
We understand this can feel hard. We ask that you keep watching out for those around you. For the good of those you love and for the good of our community.

How To Request Personal Protective Equipment And Other Supplies
Access to personal protective equipment (PPE) has not always been easy during the pandemic, but Maricopa County has worked hard to obtain PPE and review and prioritize requests to get supplies to those who need it the most. Early in the pandemic, our focus was on long-term care facilities, acute care hospitals, and EMS transport. Now, with more supply, we are able to meet a greater variety of requests, including enhanced support for schools. Orders will be prioritized based on critical healthcare needs and current supplies.
