Why Is A Mask Mandate Necessary When the Hospitalization and ICU Rates are Going Down?
Before issuing mask requirements, Maricopa County leaders took all data into consideration, including rising case counts, rising hospital bed use, and the increasing percentage of positive tests. It’s true that, among positive cases, smaller percentages are going to the hospital (6%) or intensive care (1%). However, the disease is widespread in the community and Maricopa County Public Health cannot stop it alone. This disease requires each person to act responsibly in order to limit the spread of the virus.

Where Can I Report A Business Or Individual Who Is Not Following The Countywide Mask Requirement?
Maricopa County recommends using the non-emergency number for your local law enforcement agency. In cities and towns, this would be the local police force. In unincorporated Maricopa County, this would be the Sheriff’s Office. Those agencies will have to evaluate whether they have the resources to respond to every call about masks. You can see those agencies and numbers listed on our website >
