Vacations. Barbecues. Pool parties. Time at the lake or the park. These are Memorial Day weekend traditions for many families, but this year, more precautions need to be taken.

Although the “Stay Home” order has been lifted, Maricopa County residents are still encouraged to practice physical distancing. This includes limiting, if not avoiding, non-essential travel. According to the CDC, even domestic travel will increase your risk of COVID-19.

Large Gatherings
Federal and state guidelines continue to recommend limiting gatherings to fewer than 10 people and maintaining physical distancing. You’re advised to stay home if you’re sick, or if your age or medical condition puts you at higher risk for severe illness due to COVID-19.

Pools
Some public pools will be open this weekend. According to the CDC, there is no evidence that the virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread to people through water in pools, hot tubs, spas, or water play areas. However, it can be spread by face-to-face contact with other people so physical distancing remains important.
