Calling All Covid-19 Testing Contractors
Maricopa County Public Health is looking for contractors to perform testing in congregate settings such as long-term care facilities and homeless shelters. At today’s press conference, Public Health leaders discussed how an upcoming “request for proposal” will assist efforts to track and limit the spread of COVID-19. Interested vendors can find more information at Maricopa.gov/COVID19.

State Testing Data
Arizona Department of Health Services data shows more than 171,000 COVID-19 diagnostic (PCR) tests have been performed since testing started. The state has seen a smaller percentage of those tests come back positive over the past few weeks. For the most recent week, the percentage of positive PCR tests is 4%. A month ago, it was 11%.

Expansion Of Contact Tracing
Effectively tracking the spread of COVID-19 requires contacting all positive cases and their close contacts. This is known as disease investigation and contact tracing. Maricopa County has hired additional staff to help enhance these efforts, but the public has an important role to play. Public Health will now reach out to positive cases via a secure, text messaging system.

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport will begin requiring visitors to wear masks next month. Whether you are required to wear a mask by a business or employer, or are wearing it as a personal choice, it’s important that masks are worn and cared for correctly.
