Maricopa County is Taking Proactive Measures Against COVID-19 in Our Jails

No Current Cases in County Jails
As of Friday, April 10, the county jail system had no positive tests for COVID-19. To date, 28 patients have been tested for COVID-19. 21 tests have come back negative. Seven patients are currently in isolation while results are pending. Correctional Health Services is taking proactive measures

What Does Additional Data Tell Us About COVID-19 in Maricopa County?
Over the weekend, the Arizona Department of Health Services released additional data about COVID-19 cases including case counts by zip code. Maricopa County Public Health reminds residents that this data is based only on those who have been tested. All residents—regardless of where they live—should practice good hygiene, stay home whenever possible, and maintain physical distance outside the home.

Highlights from Maricopa County-Specific Data
- People aged 65 or older or those who have at least one chronic health condition make up 70% of those who have been hospitalized and 96% of deaths for COVID-19.
- Supporting those at the highest risk for severe disease is essential so that they can stay home and away from others.
- There have been no hospitalizations or deaths reported among those 0-19 years old. Healthy children and young adults tend to have milder illness.
