I enjoyed celebrating Arbor Day with my family, the Arizona Nursery Association, and the students at St. Thomas the Apostle school. The students will be able to watch their tree grow throughout their years in elementary school.
The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors approved an update to the McDowell Mountain Regional Park Master Plan. There’s a reason Maricopa County has the best parks system in the country. We don’t just rely on what has worked in the past. We change with the needs of our community. The original plan was approved in 1967. Now, the people who use this beautiful space have suggested additional services and activities that make sense for the Maricopa County of today. This plan takes their needs and wants into consideration and will enhance the visitor experience for the next 50 years. Read the Plan.
I had the opportunity to join the Greater Phoenix Economic Council Biennial Washington D.C. Executive Mission. This mission allows state, county, and city leaders to discuss, and advocate for, polices that create and retain jobs and economic growth in our region.

I was honored to participate in a groundbreaking for the Gilbert Public Safety Training Facility. The facility, which is the first of its kind in Gilbert, will serve as the dedicated training space for the Police and Fire & Rescue departments and will be equipped with multiple tactical, prop and classroom structures, a shooting range and a driver training track. Looking forward to the grand opening in 2021!

In May, Scottsdale-based Caliber – The Wealth Development Company held their 7th annual investment conference, with investors from across Maricopa County and the nation. At the event, CEO Chris Loeffler described how they have become the largest Opportunity Zone Fund in the Southwest, on track to raise $500 million to fund development projects in Arizona and beyond.
Opportunity Zones were created by the 2017 federal Jobs and Tax Cuts Act and provide significant tax incentives for investors who develop projects or businesses in areas that have historically had difficulty generating economic growth. Caliber is currently invested in Opportunity Zone projects in Scottsdale, Mesa, Phoenix and more. Along the way, they have grown into an organization with nearly 1,500 employees who build, develop and manage nearly $900 million in existing properties and development projects.
