New Certified Documents Option at Public Access Terminals

The public access terminals at the Clerk of Court public facilities have a new Certified Documents option. Customers can request electronically certified documents from these terminals, and pick them up in paper format from the public records counter staff. Customers will need to know the case number in advance, and they can select from active or inactive cases.  Confidential documents, marriage licenses, wills, probate letters, exemplified (2-seal) or authenticated (3-seal) documents, and any document being used for Social Security are not available for electronic certification using the new Certified Documents option. Instead, these must still be certified with an embossed seal on paper.  The standard fee applies for electronically certified documents: $30.00 to certify the document, and 0.50 per page.   This new Certified Documents option is part of the Public Records E-Certification initiative the Clerk’s Office began in February of this year.

November Office Closure Reminders

The Clerk’s Office will be closed on Monday, November 12 for Veterans Day and on Thursday and Friday, November 22 and 23 for Thanksgiving. Several years ago the Superior Court in Maricopa County opted to stay open on Columbus Day in exchange for closing on the Friday after Thanksgiving.

In non-juvenile case types, customers may submit documents for filing on nights, weekends, and holidays by eFiling in appropriate cases and by using the Clerk’s external filing depository boxes located around the Valley. The Filing Depository Boxes are located:

  • Downtown Phoenix - located at the 4th avenue entrance to the 301 West Jefferson County Administration Building.
  • Mesa - located at the north entrance of the Southeast Court Complex, 222 E. Javelina.
  • Northeast Regional Center - located at the main entrance of the Northeast Regional Center, 18380 N. 40th St.
  • Northwest Regional Center - located at the main entrance of the Northwest Regional Center, 14264 West Tierra Buena Lane.

National Adoption Day

The Court will be participating in the 19th Annual National Adoption Day event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 17 at the Juvenile Court Center located at 3131 W. Durango St. in Phoenix. The Clerk of the Court’s Office is supporting this effort by providing a full file counter staff, a courtroom clerk for each division, as well as various members of the management team for assistance and support. The public is welcome to attend this free event, which has been the largest of its kind in the nation for the past several years.  Last year, 261 children were adopted.  For more information about this year’s adoption event, you may visit the Maricopa County National Adoption Day Foundation at www.maricopanad.org.

Update on online service appointment service

Earlier this year, the Office launched a new online service that allowed customers to choose a date, time, and location to purchase a marriage license or process a passport application. The locations for this new service were the Customer Service Center and the courts at Southeast, Northeast, and Northwest. In its first six months of operations, 5,422 reservations were made. The service is available on the Clerk’s website (www.clerkofcourt.maricopa.gov) under both Marriage Licenses and Passports.

Employees who are veterans honored

On November 7, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors held a Veterans Day event to honor the county employees who served in the military.  According to the County, approximately 1,300 county employees have served in a branch of the military and many continue to serve as reservists. The Clerk of the Court’s Office has several staff members who are veterans and their service is appreciated.

Interesting Statistic

The Clerk of the Court’s Office processes an average of 14,590 documents daily.
