Maricopa County Recorder releases 2018 Primary Election Preliminary Report

PHOENIX—Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes today published the 2018 Primary Election Preliminary Report which outlines some of the challenges the Elections Department overcame on Election Day.

“This report should have been included in the audit commissioned by the Maricopa Board of Supervisors. Since it was not, I am making it available now. It includes an overview of some of the key facts about the Primary, a timeline leading up to and including Election Day and responses to frequently asked questions the office received from the public and the press immediately following the election,” Fontes said.

Fontes initially ordered the report in the days following the Primary Election to provide a clearer picture of what happened at the 62 polling places that opened late. The details have been updated since then, as new information became available.

“Publishing the report now gives me an opportunity to commend my team, which rose to the occasion and showed determination and commitment. As did the voters of Maricopa County, who turned out in record numbers. This success story is the result of a true partnership with the community. Together we attacked the problems that came our way, and all Maricopa County voters had a place to cast their vote on Election Day. I am optimistic about what we will be able to accomplish in November,” Fontes said.
