On August 8, the Maricopa County Industrial Development Authority (IDA) presented a check for $40,000 to St. Mary's Food Bank "Community Kitchen," a second chance program helping people with barriers to employment build culinary and life skills. This investment from the IDA will allow St.
Mary’s to refine an already successful program and, ultimately, double the
number of people being served.
2018 Summer Reading Program
Maricopa County Library District wrapped up another Summer Reading Program last month and the numbers were impressive.
A total of 81,936 people participated, with 32,924 (40.2%) completing and earning a free book. These
are great results and 23% higher completion rates than last year. In addition, 751
people completed one of my three exciting challenges. Way to go!
