Supervisor Gates' Summer Reading Challenge, May Highlights and Free Pet Adoptions

Dear Friends,

The heat is on! After a beautiful May, filled with weeks to be enjoyed outside, we find ourselves seeking refuge in air-conditioned havens. As the pavement heats up, join me in reflecting on this past month, preferably from inside.

Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton, District 3 Councilwoman Debra Stark and I continued the yearly tradition of brewing the Non-Partisan Lager at North Mountain Brewing Company in Sunnyslope.  Be sure to stop in later this month and have a taste.  It’s not quite ready just yet.  Good things take time.  I’ve included picture highlights below.

The City of Phoenix celebrated another milestone this month. Phoenix officially re-took the spot of 5th largest city in the U.S., bumping Philadelphia back down to 6th. I am proud to serve such a flourishing community that embraces growth. Click HERE to read more about Phoenix’s continued growth.

The “Dog Days of Summer” are a great time to dive into a book and also join the Maricopa County Summer Reading Challenge.  I’ve developed a District 3 badge and am in competition with my fellow Supervisors.  The District badge with the most completions wins bragging rights for the next year.  The challenge is geared toward our 7 to 10 year old children, but I challenge you to engage in some mental exercise as well and enjoy a summer book.

All my best,

Bill Montgomery County Coffee Sup Gates

Constituents packed the house for our last County Coffee before District 3 takes a summer break. Arizona State Representative Heather Carter (LD 15) and Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery drew a great crowd for the June 1st breakfast.
