Meet the new Human Services Transportation Planner at MAG! Lauren Read joined the MAG team as the Human Services Transportation Planner in May. She moved from Washington State where she was the Mobility Management Coordinator for the Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Council of Governments. She has extensive experience with developing training curriculum, facilitating meetings and workshops, and conducting travel training. At MAG, she will be coordinating with the subregional mobility managers to accomplish program goals, assisting with the Section 5310 application process, and supporting the Transportation Ambassador Program (TAP).

Sharing Economy and Transportation is a peer-to-peer economic model that facilitates acquiring, providing, or sharing access to goods and services. Billy Parker, notes, as a Subregional Mobility Manager and long-time Section 5310 subrecipient, I see this concept dovetailing closely with the FTA definition of "Mobility Management". This includes "short-range planning and management activities and projects for improving coordination among public transportation and other transportation service providers."
Options for participating in a sharing economy through coordination of services are vast and include many things that we do in everyday business that can be easily overlooked. For just one very small example, reading this blurb in the newsletter and sharing what you know is coordination! Another often overlooked example is vehicle disposal (remember, sharing access to goods and services). One of my projects as a subregional mobility manager has been to both illustrate the collaborative value of vehicle disposals and make the system more user-friendly. To this end, in coordination with Wendy Miller with City of Phoenix, we have developed a flowchart of the vehicle disposal process available on the City of Phoenix website.
