New Systems Funding Awarded

We are thrilled to announce that Arizona has been awarded $1.7 million for the Youth Homelessness Systems Improvement Grant! This is a first-of-its-kind funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to improve the youth homeless response system. The Maricopa CoC will work hand in hand with the Tucson-Pima CoC and the Arizona Balance of State to improve the youth system statewide. The grant is broken down into four overarching goals:

  1. Establish Statewide Partnerships for Youth Homelessness
  2. Develop Career Pathways in the Field for Youth
  3. Achieve System Design Parity Across Continuums of Care
  4. Organize a Statewide Youth Conference on Homelessness

We are preparing to begin our grant activities in September. We will begin these activities with a kickoff event to celebrate the award of the grant and solicit community and stakeholder feedback as we begin to achieve these goals. If you or anyone in your organization is interested in contributing to this grant’s activities, please complete this form to stay up to date.

FY2024 Notice of Funding Opportunity

Renewal applications to the annual CoC grant are currently underway. While applications for new projects will not open until its official release from HUD, we encourage you to complete and return a non-binding Intent to Apply form if your agency is considering a submission for this year’s cycle. This will ensure receipt of all relevant information as it comes.

Trauma-Informed Care training for Social Security Administration (SSA):

In July and August 2024, the ALL INside initiative is supporting a three-part Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) training series offered to nearly 550 Social Security Administration (SSA) employees. The goal of this TIC training is to provide frontline Arizona SSA staff the evidence-based models for engaging and supporting people experiencing unsheltered and sheltered homelessness. The TIC training will be based, in part, on the 2023 document listed in the SAMHSA Evidence-Based Practices Resource Center called the Practical Guide for Implementing a Trauma-Informed Approach. Though this is specific to SSA employees, providers are welcome to attend.

SAMHSA’s Evidence-Based Practices Resource Center offers materials and tools needed to incorporate practices based on evidence into their work, communities, or clinical settings. Learn more at the SAMHSA Evidence-Based Practices Resource Center.
